A conscious choice doesn’t cost much.
Every manufacturer and distributor, whether they have been operating regionally or globally for 3, 10, or even 20 years, shares a common goal – to find the best markets for their products and to seek directions that will provide a reliable, steadily growing source of revenue.
Your exports are affected by numerous factors. How do you balance operating costs with the price achievable in a given market? What volume will allow you to achieve your targeted profitability? What kind of competition will you face locally? Where will you need to spend a lot of money on marketing, and where will the entry threshold be low?
You are confident that you know the markets you serve. You’ve been attending trade shows and conferences for years, you’ve talked to customers, and you have acquaintances among your competitors. But are you sure your intuition and the image you are dealing with fully reflects reality? Are you missing information? Think about what kind of data you have been working with so far. Think about data based on reliable sources capable of answering your key and perhaps yet unasked questions.
Today you can have the answers at the click of a button.

Origins of the idea
Like many other exporters, you have most likely faced a fundamental question: Where will our product sell best? What resources will I need? What challenges will I face?
As you ask yourself these questions, you are aware that a wrong decision can carry all sorts of negative consequences.
Perhaps, like many, you believe in your intuition. You base it on your own experience, customer feedback and friends among your competitors. You discuss matters, listen carefully and take advantage of every industry trade fair, conference or other opportunity.
No doubt this knowledge and awareness are of great importance, but it is often not enough.
You look for hints, reach for data. But does the size of the GDP, its growth rate, the size of the population or the immediate neighborhood matter most here?
You feel unfulfilled. Does it really need to continue?

However, there were questions and doubts about the fact that Polish exports of this type of assortment to France were very limited. It was clear from the report that the main exporters to that market were Italy (42.8%), Belgium (22.1%) and Spain (15.6%). As could easily be expected, all three had higher manufacturing costs for those products, which could bode well for export opportunities.
Subsequent research helped diagnose one of the key barriers. It turned out that one of the key factors was the attachment of local customers to communication in their native language.

FAQ
What are the data sources?
We use statistical and customs data to compile our reports. Among our sources are ITC calculations, UN COMTRADE and ITC statistics.
How long does it take to prepare a report?
It all depends on what kind of report the client expects. We prepare a general report and a detailed report on a specific market in 3 working days. A full premium report might take up to 5 working days.
How accurately does the HS code define my product?
It depends on the product. Some products have precise codes, such as 0808 10 for apples - it might not define their individual varieties, but the information will otherwise be very accurate. For other products, such as ‘men's leather trouser belts’, we may not be able to find such a product in the direct code description. However, we could look for the category of “articles of clothing and clothing accessories of leather or composition leather” (4203), along with a possible extension of either ‘articles of clothing’ (4203 10 00) or ‘other clothing accessories’ (4203 40 10). Another case is products with very general customs codes or ones that describe an entire commodity group, e.g. ‘other.’ In those cases, we need to trace back the code tree to check the broader group of products specific to the code. Descriptions of HS codes can be found in our search engine at (tutaj).
How can I find a HS code matching my product?
HS codes are customs codes used in export and transport documents. You can check them with a customs agency or match them yourself in our free search engine at (tutaj).
What if the HS code of my product doesn't describe my product very accurately?
We need to assume that the data in the report relates to a wider group of products and look for other correlations with statistical data. For example, if we offer car parts, then in addition to the HS codes of our products we may need to check the data on the number of registered vehicles on the market.
How to read and interpret the data in the report?
The report includes brief explanations clarifying the information contained in a given table. In addition, the description provides guidance on what information can be gleaned from the data.
Uncertain sources,
strategic decisions
Whether you're planning your first attempt at expanding abroad, contemplating further development directions, or finally want to optimize resource allocation to improve your company's profitability - a wrong strategic decision that’s unsupported by hard data can carry a variety of risks and very high costs for your organization.
